A Civil Site Foreman (Structural and Finishing) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a construction project, particularly focusing on the structural elements like concrete pouring and steel erection, as well as the final finishing stages including plastering, painting, flooring, and other detailing work, ensuring all construction activities are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining safety compliance on the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:Interpret and understand project plans, drawings, and specifications related to both structural and finishing works.
Coordinate and manage the work of various subcontractors involved in structural and finishing trades.
Create and maintain detailed work schedules for the site crew, ensuring efficient workflow.
Monitor project progress against the schedule and identify potential delays, taking corrective actions as needed.Site Supervision:Directly supervise construction crews involved in structural activities like concrete pouring, formwork installation, steel erection, and finishing tasks like plastering, tiling, painting, and flooring.
Assign tasks to workers based on their skills and expertise, ensuring proper manpower allocation.
Conduct regular quality checks on all construction work to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective measures.Safety Management:Enforce strict safety protocols on site, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures.
Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks to educate workers on potential hazards.
Investigate and report any accidents or near misses, taking corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.Material Management:Monitor the delivery and storage of construction materials, ensuring proper inventory control.
Coordinate with the procurement team to order materials as needed, optimizing stock levels.
Identify and address any material shortages or quality issues.Communication and Collaboration:Maintain clear and open communication with the project manager, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Address any concerns or issues promptly and effectively, providing timely updates on project progress.
Facilitate effective collaboration between different trades to ensure smooth project execution.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Civil Site Foreman with a strong understanding of structural and finishing construction practices.
Thorough knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Excellent leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a construction crew.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address challenges on site
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
