About: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead and guide a team of engineers in the design, development, and testing of various separation systems used in aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of stage separation, payload fairing separation, and satellite separation systems, along with expertise in Separation Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Strong leadership abilities to mentor and coordinate engineering teams are essential. The role has ownership of System deliverables along with a strong focus on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard practices. It gives great opportunity to grow and increase expertise in top notch technology, execute tasks related to multiple hardware commodities.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead a team of engineers in the design and development of separation systems
•Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to team members throughout the design and development.
•Oversee the conceptual design and detailed engineering of separation systems, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
•Drive the integration of separation systems with overall spacecraft and launch vehicle systems.
•Apply separation dynamics principles to predict and analyse the behaviour of separation events.
•Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal assessments to validate the integrity of separation systems.
•Review and approve design documents, specifications, and engineering drawings.
•Develop and implement test plans and procedures for separation systems, including simulation, component testing, and full-system tests.
•Analyse test results, identify issues, and lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve any problems
•Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including vehicle integration, avionics, and structural engineering, to ensure seamless integration of separation systems.
•Prepare and present technical reports, updates, and presentations to project teams and management.
•Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in design, development, and testing of separation systems.
Skills
•Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information. Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
•Experience building hardware or have a passion for contributing to a work product that operates in the real world.
•Demonstrated resilience and the ability to overcome failure or extreme odds
•Demonstrated expertise in separation dynamics and methodologies.
•Adequate understanding of GD&T and Tolerance Stack-up analysis.
•Good hands-on experience with CAD tools like Creo, SolidWorks.
•Good hands-on experience with FEA tools like ANSYS, Hyper mesh.
•Good hands-on experience with Multibody Dynamics like ADAMS, Abaqus.
